ATLANTA, Georgia—June 28, 2009—Ready to take the Cocoa plunge? Sign up for Cocoa I Bootcamp at the Big Nerd Ranch, July 27-31, 2009.

There is no such thing as too much of a good thing; especially when it comes to Cocoa training.

In the beginning of 2009, Aaron Hillegass, founder and president of Big Nerd Ranch, Inc., transformed the existing Cocoa Bootcamp curriculum into Cocoa I Bootcamp, designed to allow developers with a background in object-oriented programming the opportunity to master Cocoa and begin developing real-world applications in Cocoa. The next class is scheduled for July 27-31, 2009.

He also launched Cocoa II Bootcamp, a more advanced master class for existing Cocoa developers to further enhance their skills and add even more depth to their skill set; offered most recently from July 13-17, 2009.

"It started to become clear that students who took Cocoa Bootcamp back in 2003 were facing new sets of challenges and having to utilizing new tools and enhancements with each successive iteration of Cocoa," said Hillegass.

Throughout the years, Big Nerd Ranch has been on a similar trajectory as Cocoa itself, evolving from Cocoa training trailblazer to the industry standard in excellence in Cocoa training classes. Along the way, Hillegass recognized that the growing complexity of Cocoa demanded a more complex curriculum.

"Cocoa I Bootcamp still delivers on our promise to take the novice Cocoa developer and transform her into a Cocoa expert" Hillegass said. "After one week in this class, students will emerge fully equipped to apply their newfound knowledge into developing complex and elegant Cocoa applications."

Upon completion of the Cocoa I Bootcamp , which is taught on Mac OS X 10.5, Xcode 3 and Objective-C 2, students will be able to:

  • Write complex applications for Mac OS X
  • Demonstrate fluency in Objective-C
  • Master Interface Builder and Xcode
  • Find and understand the online documentation
  • Demonstrate experience with the most common classes in the frameworks
  • Understand the design patterns used in Cocoa
  • Recognize several common idioms of the Cocoa community
